Call for papers

MatPost 2027, the 8th European Conference on Substation Equipment, will take place in Lyon on 24 & 25 November 2027.

The Energy and Digital Transitions, with electrification at their core, are more than ever major challenges of our time. In addition to reliability, sustainable development, competitiveness and regulatory compliance, resilience and sovereignty have now become key priorities.

MatPost 2027 will bring together experts, decision-makers, manufacturers, operators, academics and other stakeholders from the international electricity sector to share innovations, experience and solutions supporting these transformations.

KEY DATES

  • October 1, 2026 – Abstract submission opens
  • February 14, 2027 – Abstract submission deadline
  • May 15, 2027 – Notification of acceptance
  • June 24, 2027 – Final paper submission deadline

The abstract submission platform and submission guidelines will be available from October 1, 2026.

TOPICS

Authors are invited to submit abstracts related to the following topics:

❱ Mass electrification and integration of renewable energies: offshore wind, photovoltaics, hydrogen, systems and infrastructures, DC grids, fast charging and grid-forming technologies.

❱ Evolution of equipment and substation architectures: SF6-free sealed technologies, electric mobility, batteries, increasing performance requirements and power distribution for data centers.

❱ Advanced simulation and modelling to accelerate projects: Electromagnetic Transient Models, digital twins, AI from the design stage and the impact of quantum computing.

❱ Grid supervision and digitalization: communicating devices and automation, digital technologies supporting infrastructure resilience and robustness, virtualization combined with Process Bus technologies, impact of system architectures on performance and certification.

❱ Impact of regulatory and standardization developments on equipment: phase-out of SF6, REACH including certain PFAS, the Cyber Resilience Act, the Cyber Solidarity Act and harmonization of standards.

❱ Sustainability and sovereignty: raw materials, criticality, resource efficiency, recycling, equipment repairability and adaptation to climate and geopolitical crises.
